What is Turtlebrace?
This hybrid brace is made from an environmentally friendly, low-temperature thermoplastic fused to an antibacterial microfibre fabric envelope. Turtlebrace stabilises a part of the body in a fraction of the time it would take for plaster cast immobilisation. This immobilisation can be used to prevent, correct or control malposition, and to treat trauma.
Turtlebrace is available in various sizes from babies to children and adults, for the wrist, ankle and elbow. Two universal extensions have been developed for use on the thumb, palm and finger. These extensions are welded securely to the wrist orthosis by heating, making it possible to stabilise almost all possible hand pathologies (e.g. limitation of finger extension or retraction, thumb immobilisation).
What pathologies can Turtlebrace orthoses be used for?
Turtlebrace orthoses can be used for a wide range of conditions, including stable fractures, sprains, post-operative immobilisation, serial immobilisation protocols, spasticity control and many other pathologies. Among other things, Turtlebrace is ideal for use in paediatric physiotherapy, for example in the treatment of spina bifida, cerebral palsy, scoliosis, clubfoot, equinus foot and Botox reduction and treatment. Turtlebrace’s infinite reshaping capability means it can be used successfully in place of serial casting. This also reduces the time and costs involved in manufacturing replacement orthoses for the evolutionary phases of certain treatments (e.g. Clubfoot, Hypotonia, Achilles tendon tear, Spastic deformities, etc).
